The Somali Centre for Family Services is a broad-based non-profit organization that enjoys very strong community support and is well respected by other service providers as well as funders. The centre was established in 1991 in response to a large influx of Somali newcomers to Canada.
Initially, it was established to preserve Culture and Heritage, however, it quickly became apparent that the needs of the community were more in the realm of settlement, integration, and counseling.
A special emphasis has been paid to providing services that enhance the community’s social well-being in Canada. Since its inception, the Centre has been delivering services that are meaningful, culturally appropriate, and designed to meet the specific needs of our community members.
The Somali Centre for Family Services is a beneficiary agency of:
1- The City of Ottawa 2- Citizenship and Immigration Canada 3- Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation 4- United Way / Centraide of Ottawa 5- Ontario Trillium Foundation 6- Canadian Heritage 7- Community Foundation of Ottawa
